Rehabilitation of the Sobratah–Zouara coastal road

The Sobratah–Zouara coastal road rehabilitation project (a 20 km single-lane, two-way road) in Libya aims to improve and modernize a strategic section of international road infrastructure. This road runs along the Mediterranean coast across the entire width of the country, connecting the Tunisian and Egyptian borders. The works include road resurfacing, structural reinforcement, drainage improvements, and signage upgrades, thus contributing to better connectivity, increased safety, and the economic development of the region.

Etendue des travaux:

  • Milling of the old wearing course to a thickness of 6 cm.
  • Widening of the roadway by 1.80 m on each side, including: excavation work and placement of two layers of 0/20 all-in aggregate, with a total thickness of 40 cm.
  • Installation of a new layer of bitumen gravel with a thickness of 6 cm.
  • Reinforcement of road widenings by means of a reinforcing geogrid, laid over a width of 2.50 m on either side of the road.
  • Construction of the reinforced wearing course by adding an anti-rutting additive (PR Flex 20), over a width of 11 m, over the entire length of the route.
  • Construction of the verges using 0/20 aggregate.
  • Vertical and horizontal signage work.
