Description of the work

RADES BRIDGE: EARTH MOVEMENTS, EMBANKMENTS AND ROADWAYS

This project, commissioned by the Japanese company Taisei Corporation, consists of carrying out the essential preparatory work for the construction of an extradosed cable-stayed bridge.

DÉTAILS DU PROJET

Client: Taisei [Japon]

Fin du projet: 2008

Localisation: Rades, Ben Arous

Montant: 18 900 000 DT

Etendue des travaux:

  • Lake fill work with 500,000 m³ of sand, placed on a bed of geotextile.
  • Installation work of 600 kilometers of geodrains at an average depth of 13 meters, with a 1m x 1m grid.
  • Construction work on the platform of the tracks and access ramps with 286,000 m³ of crushed gravel with an average thickness of 1.60 meters.
  • Preloading work on the ground with 300,000 m³ of crushed material, placed at a height of 5 to 8 meters (removed after stabilization).
  • Construction work for the roadbed, including a subbase layer of crushed gravel, a foundation layer of 0/20 GRH, a base layer of bituminous gravel and a wearing course of anti-rutting bituminous concrete.

Spécificités du projet:

  • Rare and complex, the Radès bridge project is an engineering marvel. Located some twenty meters above the water, it represents a first in Tunisia and on the African continent as an extradosed cable-stayed bridge. Its concrete structure spans three continuous spans (70m - 120m - 70m), elegantly supported by two pylons reaching a height of 45 meters. The specific characteristics of the site, with its compressible lacustrine soil, necessitated the construction of deep foundations, anchored to a depth of 80 meters.

Chiffres clés:

  • Sand: 500,000 m³
  • Geodrains: 57,453 m³
  • Crushed materials: 300,000 m³
